The World's Best Big Sister!
"Your Big Sister’s Guide to Surviving College", is the Cliff’s Notes to Collegiate Life for Girls!
70% of high school graduates heading to college each year are female. Metro-Atlanta based writer, Christie Glascoe Crowder, offers her sisterly wisdom in her new release, "Your Big Sister’s Guide to Surviving College" (Wyatt-MacKenzie Publishing).
It is an insightful map to help girls navigate the journey through life as a college student told in a "big sister to little sister" manner. Whether you have a big sister or not, Christie lends freshman girls a hand and a shoulder to cry on when the going gets tough at college.
What started out as a labor of love for her own little sister has become a full-blown guide for all girls. About ten years ago, Christie wrote a freshman year college survival guide for her little sister that she presented to her when she moved into her dorm room for the first time. This amateur, Kinko's produced spiral bound book contained advice on every aspect and scenario of what a young girl can expect in college and how to handle herself. The material was largely based on the experiences and sometimes the mistakes made by Christie and her friends. She recently resurrected the piece to bring it to all college-bound young ladies.
"Your Big Sister’s Guide to Surviving College" handles topics such as communication between parents and daughters, adjusting to dorm/campus life, successful academics, partying/dating safely, and coping with stress.
In addition to the book, Crowder is expanding her “big sister” message in a series of college preparation workshops for high school junior / senior girls (and their parents). They are designed to be companion seminars to the book and a chance to get some in-person, sister to sister time with the author.
